SO…WHAT IS ARC?

THE ETHOS,

ARC IS THE TRAJECTORY OF AN OBJECT WHICH IS INFLUENCED BY FORCES. YOU (WE) ARE THE OBJECT. THE FORCES ARE THE DECISIONS WE MAKE BUT SOMETIMES EXTERNAL HAPPENINGS ARE FORCED UPON US. BUT THE DECISIONS WE MAKE SHOULD HELP GUIDE US CLOSER TO OUR GOALS.

ARC Philosophy: Trajectory

Your development is a trajectory. A path shaped by forces acting on you over time.

You are the object. Your current capacity, strength, skill, conditioning, resilience  determines how much any single force changes your path. Higher capacity means more stability under disruption, but also means it takes more deliberate force to redirect you when change is needed.

Decisions are self-generated force. Training consistency, technique choices, risk calls on the wall, recovery habits  are forces you apply to your own trajectory, and they're the primary lever you control. Sustained decisions (daily habits) bend the path gradually. Single decisions (a redpoint attempt, a program change) can produce sharp corrections.

External forces are real and unchosen. Injury, scheduling conflicts, life circumstances, gym access, even bad beta on a first attempt  act on your trajectory whether you choose them or not. They are not failures of decision-making. Treating them as such leads to misattributed blame. Either excusing a bad decision as "bad luck," or blaming a decision for something that was never in your control.

Your job is not to control the trajectory. It's to apply consistent, well-aimed force to it. Some decisions move you toward the goal directly. Others exist to counteract external force and hold the line until conditions change. Both are progress, even when the trajectory doesn't visibly bend that week.

We coach the force, not just the outcome. Outcome is the trajectory at a single point in time. It reflects both your decisions and forces outside your control. Evaluating decisions by outcome alone is a measurement error. What we track and coach is decision quality was the force well-aimed, well-timed, and proportional regardless of what the trajectory looked like that week.

THANK YOU FOR TRUSTING ME IN YOUR DEVELOPMENT.
